With the help of some amazing partners, Goodie Nation is producing the 2017 version of Goodie Innovation Lab, a four-month social impact pre-accelerator designed to help passionate leaders and early-stage ventures launch tech products that save the world. This year’s theme is Hack The Violence, and the objective is for each team to come up with a tech solution that helps to reduce violence 40% by the year 2020. In this fast-paced, part-time program, founders will walk away with a working product, landing page, logo, revenue model, and marketing plan to begin making an impact as well as attract funding. Goodie Innovation Lab provides the workshops as well as volunteer developers, designers, marketers, and mentors to develop into thriving, sustainable ventures that create measurable impact.
Our roadmap for helping to launch these impact technologies consists of:
+Ideation labs to generate big ideas around specific problems.
+Workshops that help turn participants into great product CEOs
+Hackathon to attract users and develop prototypes
+Hackathon to turn prototypes into working products
+Demo Night to showcase all teams
Eligible participants include individuals with ideas about addressing a subcategory of violence (for-profits), innovative non-profits, and early-stage mission-driven companies (for-profits) who want to use websites, apps, chatbots/digital assistants, artificial intelligence, virtual/augmented reality, analytics, Big Data, drones, IoT, etc. Don’t worry, we’ll bring in mentors and professionals to help you.
At Goodie Nation, we run toward hard problems with a sense of urgency because real people will continue to suffer until the problems are solved. We use tech startup entrepreneurship philosophies and methodologies, combined with culturally-relevant tactics, to create 10x change because suffering is not acceptable to us.

TECH SOCIAL IMPACT STARTUPS LAUNCHED
Goodie Innovation Lab has seven (7) main components:
Challenge Discovery Panels are hybrid panel discussions and networking events where a Goodie Nation facilitator conducts a conversational-style interview with 1-5 subject-matter experts. The objective is to provide context and background details on the challenge while create a sense of urgency relative to solving the problem immediately. The discussion is bookended by networking with drinks, food, and background music.
Prepare for getting your tech-enabled idea built in this design thinking influenced rapid problem-solving lab. Founders will learn our innovative process for being a breakthrough social impact thinker and leader by identifying personas for target users/customers, their problem, why the problem exists, value propositions, moonshot ideas, and storyboards.
After Goodie Ideation, founders have five (5) weeks to interview 50 potential users and customers to make sure they identified the correct problem and root cause.
Founders turn into amazing CEO’s capable of reaching their potential by participating in a series of workshops with Google and General Assembly to learn about/improve their skills in product management, digital marketing, product design, and pitching. And since passionate and clear storytelling is critical to recruiting talent to teams. Before the hackathons, founders practice their pitches in front of the Goodie Nation team and some of the city’s top innovators. They receive constructive feedback on pitch deck creation, content ideas, and stage presence among other things.
In this 48 hour hackathon, volunteer UI/UX designers, product managers, marketing and communication specialists, web developers, entrepreneurs, and graphic designers join the founders to turn their ideas into prototypes, logos, landing pages as well as help them create revenue models and a plan to attract their first 100 users and/or customers. These teams present their projects to a panel of industry experts for a chance to win prize packages.
