Introducing the 2024 Tech Equity Collective Impact Fund Grantees
Today, we’re thrilled to unveil the 20 grantees of the 2024 Tech Equity Collective Impact Fund, a groundbreaking initiative brought to life through a strategic partnership between Goodie Nation and Google’s Tech Equity Collective. This collaboration marks a $1 million commitment to organizations at the cutting edge of fostering equity in the tech industry.
These 20 organizations are at the forefront of creating a more inclusive tech ecosystem for aspiring Black technical talent through reskilling, upskilling and training programs.
The Tech Equity Collective Impact Fund acknowledges the need for equitable representation and inclusion in the industry, and we’re committed to empowering organizations that are actively providing aspiring talent with the resources and support they need to thrive. The TEC Impact Fund provides:
- Non-dilutive financial support: $50,000 in non-dilutive funding to fortify initiatives and upskill emerging technical talent from underrepresented communities.
- Organizational development programming: Monthly virtual seminars to accelerate organizational growth — featuring topics such as leadership and fundraising — led by industry thought leaders and practitioners.
- A valuable community: Exclusive access to both Goodie Nation’s and Tech Equity Collective’s vibrant community of industry experts and peer organizations.
Meet The Cohort ✊🏽
Starting The Program Off On Fire 🔥
We kicked off the program with the Opening Session which established a collaborative and innovative community among the cohort. This initial gathering set the stage for a series of engaging sessions with the Tech Equity Collective and Goodie Nation team.
The journey continued with the OKR Session feat. Jason Scott session where Jason Scott guided our grantees through the essentials of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), a strategy critical to the success of companies like Google. This session equipped our grantees with the skills to set and achieve ambitious goals, fostering a culture of accountability and progress.
Next, the Speaker Series: Meeting the 2023 Cohort session brought together Anthony Mays (Morgan Latimer LLC), Jenea Adams (The Black Women in Computational Biology Network), and Mike Roberts (Creating Coding Careers) to share their experiences with OKRs. Their insights on motivating teams, scaling objectives, and integrating OKRs into organizational processes highlighted the framework’s versatility and impact on team cohesion and efficiency.
These sessions have significantly propelled our grantees on their path to creating a more inclusive tech ecosystem. Under the guidance of Goodie Nation’s Ian Cohen and Jamaila Holder, and through the innovative support of the Tech Equity Collective Impact Fund, we’re excited about the meaningful impact our grantees are poised to achieve in tech equity.
Tech Workforce Performance Partners
To support these organizations, we’ve brought on two dope Performance Partners (dedicated business coaches) to facilitate monthly accountability group huddles, meet with them 1:1 each month, and help them think through strategic issues. Meet them below.
