We're Headed to Memphis This Month to Battle Recidivism Through Innovation

Our tribe is on the move! This time, we’re piloting a six-month Open Source Economic Development Goodie Innovation Lifecycle in Memphis, TN to battle recidivism by improving the job placement rate of the formerly incarcerated.

According to the National Institute of Justice, recidivism is one of the most fundamental concepts in criminal justice. It refers to a person’s relapse into criminal behavior, often after the person receives sanctions or undergoes intervention for a previous crime. Recidivism is measured by criminal acts that resulted in rearrest, re-conviction or return to prison with or without a new sentence during a three-year period following the prisoner’s release.

With an amazing set of partners led by Geeked Memphis, we’ll kickoff on Saturday, June 18th with Goodie Ideation+ at the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel. Goodie Ideation+ is a 12-hour creative lab where tech and non-tech people collaborate to generate big ideas and landing pages which address this challenge.

Please share with your contacts in Memphis, and encourage them to attend. Registration is completely free at http://goodiex.org/ideamemphis0616
